1. Who we are

Powermemo is a language-learning app that helps you learn languages through videos, flashcards, grammar lessons, and AI-powered practice. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.

2. Data we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or another OAuth provider we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We store these to identify your account.

Learning data. Everything you create in the app — vocabulary lists, flashcards, study decks, grammar notes, video watch progress, and practice session results — is stored in your account so it persists across devices.

Language preference. Your chosen learning language is saved as a cookie and in your account.

YouTube content. When you add a YouTube video we store its metadata (title, thumbnail, channel) using the YouTube Data API. We do not store the video itself.

Usage analytics (optional). If you accept analytics cookies we may collect aggregated, anonymised usage events such as which features are used most. We do not sell this data or use it to profile you.

Session cookies. Authentication uses secure HTTP-only session cookies to keep you signed in.

To provide and personalise the learning experience.
To sync your progress across devices.
To generate AI-powered practice exercises relevant to your learning language.
To send account-related emails (e.g. sign-in links) — never marketing unless you opt in.
To improve the app through aggregated analytics (with your consent).

4. Third-party services

Google / OAuth providers. Sign-in is handled by the provider. Their privacy policy governs the sign-in flow.

YouTube Data API. Video metadata is fetched from YouTube. By adding YouTube videos you agree to YouTube's Terms of Service.

AI features. Practice session audio and text may be processed by an AI provider. Inputs are used only to generate a response and are not stored by the provider beyond the request.

Database hosting. Your data is stored on Neon (a managed PostgreSQL service). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

5. Cookies

We use two categories of cookies:

Necessary. Authentication session, language preference, and your cookie consent choice. These cannot be declined without breaking core functionality.
Analytics (optional). Aggregated, anonymised usage events. Only set if you click "Accept all".

6. Data retention

Your account and learning data are kept as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us (see Section 9). We will delete your data within 30 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent for analytics. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children

Powermemo is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us.
